I've been thinking about this and its not really true, because if you switch ALL your friends have to switch at the same time. Half of your friends won't do it. Then you'd need to use two apps to constantly keep in touch. Its not like email where one client is the same as another. Its really kind of insidious. The opposite of what the web was supposed to be.

I think Facebook and the users of WhatsApp see the world differently. Computers and even tablets are old. Constant multiple conversations with friends is where they are at. However when something better comes along they'll gradually abandon WhatsApp like kids abandoned Facebook or what was that one that came before it?
