Jim, Can it just be that now all they are interested in is a way to keep the dollar stable? Maybe there is no interest in holding up the Euro, natural market forces will do this.
However, how does the FED keep the dollar strong. Do they really have much in foreign currency reserves that could be sold? I doubt it.
So maybe you are right, the only reserve left to support the dollar is selling of gold ....and buying of dollars (?). Does that seem rational?
