Hockeyfan, You are not just talking about 1 to 1 readers and chip cards....but the enrollment of 40 million individuals. Let's say you have 500 enrollment machines......that would be 80,000 enrollments per machine. I would liken this to perhaps the city where I live ....40,000 adults. Would my town need a dedicated enrollment machine...Yes. If you consider the job at hand....the number of machines needed.....I think you can see that "kicking off" the project yesterday makes sense. I would assume that the players and numbers have been set......at least for the prime contractors. If IDX is involved....it would be through NEC on the 10 printer side.......and through a smart card supplier on the token side (entirely new tender).......IDX might not know yet what NEC's requirements are. NEC may know....but IDX may not....yet. I would think there would be a bunch of ten printers involved here......I cant see a single digit reader being the enrollment device. bg ps. FYI.....1 rand = 16 cents.......6 rand to the US dollar.....IDX trading for 57 rand per share...."shave and a haircut.....1.6 rand"...DLSC worth 2 rand....tops!
