Ahead of the Bell: F5 Networks sees rebound

F5 Networks seeing faster rebound in sales than anticipated, Deutsche Bank says

NEW YORK (AP) -- F5 Networks Inc. is experiencing a faster-than-expected rebound in sales, a Deutsche Bank analyst said late Tuesday, upgrading shares to "Buy" from "Hold."

Deutsche Bank analyst Brian Modoff said his checks show F5 Networks' biggest-spending customers in the technology, government, financial services and telecommunications industries are placing more orders than anticipated for the company's computer networking products. The company makes equipment for managing network traffic.

Modoff added that "the competitive landscape continues to favor F5." Cisco Systems Inc. and Citrix Systems Inc. are focused on mid-range data center and networking equipment, he said, leaving F5 "ample room for growth at the high-end of the market."

Modoff raised his price target for the stock to $46 from $39.

Shares edged up 62 cents to $38.10 in premarket trading.
