Sorry, ZP, that was my silly speculation, not ever
very likely (as I think I warned).

Anything physical is very likely to be due to something
physical. CDs are not balanced well because they don't
spin that fast, so my more leisurely guess is the CD
physical characteristics. Look at the CDs that fail:
Do they have a thick side and a thin side? Many do,
I find. This is still pure speculation.

One other point: Are these audio or data CDs? Audios
have more variation in my experience.

Anyhow, either way, what are you keeping that crummy
Plextor for when it won't even play your CDs? <GG>
That IS a joke, sort of, but with a serious core.
8x is mouse nuts nowadays, so why can't the damn thing
work?
