Ryan,
That's a great reason for you to own the stock. But there are people who don't want to support the activism and he suggested they sell. If I was long AAPL (or if I held a position where I was responsible for shareholder wealth), I'd want those people to hold onto their shares.

If I were CEO of Apple, I would want long-term shareholders who actually believe in the company, its business, and its vision. I wouldn't silence myself just to keep some shareholders who don't agree with the company's vision, but are just holding onto shares to make a quick buck. These people are essentially speculating.

In any case, Tim Cook's environmentalism goes along with Apple's well-cultivated image. They want their customers to "feel good" about buying Apple products.
