IBM was harassed certainly, but the government eventually dropped the anti-trust suit...since the free market had already taken away IBMs monopoly.

MSFT is doing well, no doubt, but then they haven't made the big mistakes the others on that list (excepting ORCL) have made, so it's not too surprising.

I would agree that SUNW doesn't work too hard at the application side, focusing toward the hardware/OS monopoly as you mention. Isn't it interesting that MSFT avoids pursuing that?
