What we have done is identify a few "mom and pop" type eateries with good food and not expensive prices. Then it doesn't seem to be a strain to go out, either cost wise or 'get gussied up' wise....
We both know lots and lots of great restaurants, because of all the client entertaining he/we did over the decades.....
Now, we are out of that phase, but sometimes you just want to spend the bucks for ambiance and always great food at someplace like Canlis, El Gaucho, Union Street Grill, and so many others.... Usually we think about them ahead of time, so we are already in the mood to dress up and have a wonderful evening out.
The trick is to find the wonderful "other little hangouts" and go there more often...
But then on the other hand, our son and his wife taught us old dogs a couple of new tricks.... They got 4 absolutely divine Beef Filet at Costco for $28 for the package...that and a starch, and super salad just was so good, easy, and we didn't have to dress up, I wondered why we don't do that too.... |
