OPTIONS - ProxyMed vols rise, volume swells again

CHICAGO, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Implied volatility popped up again Thursday in options on ProxyMed Inc. PILL and volume swelled as the stock firmed amid a lack of news about the healthcare financial information technology company.
Implied vols in the October 12.5s stood at about 115 percent, up from about 95 on Wednesday, and the November 12.5s were also up about 20 points from Wednesday to about 101 percent.
"We had a lot of call buyers today," said Anthony Carone, Designated Primary Market Maker with Felt Trading at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. "November out-of-the money 15 and 17.5 calls are up primarily."
The stock's six-month historic volatility was about 70 percent and was 45 percent for the last 20 days, Carone said.
Turnover in the option increased again on Thursday.
"Options volume has increased significantly, maybe three or four times the normal amount," Carone added, citing no news on the stock.
At 1422 CDT/1922 GMT, roughly 1,920 calls and 40 puts had changed hands on the CBOE and the American Stock Exchange combined.
Shares of the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based company rose 1-13/16 to 14 on Nasdaq volume of 458,900.
