If an Intel employees exercises an option, money is paid to Intel based on the strike price. In the past up through at least the early 90s, this CASH FLOW IN from option redemptions was sufficient to cover Intel's R&D expense.

Source: a speech by Gordon Moore defending options for a broad range of employees. Gordon Moore NEVER received an option from Intel, only founders stock from his investment to start the venture.

Why did you forget to mention this CASH FLOW IN effect Alice? Stupidity?
