Nokia networks in Ireland

Nokia and Irish Mobile Operator Esat Digifone Sign Agreement for the Supply of Nokia's Cutting Edge Base Station Technology

Nov. 13, 2000--Nokia is to supply Esat Digifone, the fastest growing mobile operator in Ireland, with Nokia's GSM base stations to upgrade and expand its dual band network throughout Ireland.

Nokia will deliver upgrades to Digifone's existing network as well as supplying new equipment for enhanced coverage and capacity. Esat Digifone is a new customer for Nokia.

Deliveries have already begun with the upgrade and expansion due to be completed by the end of the year. Under this agreement, Nokia will supply Digifone with its market leading GSM 900 and GSM 1800 base stations, high capacity base station controllers, advanced quality and capacity features and the Nokia Network Management System.

In addition, Nokia will provide a comprehensive package of Professional Services, covering Network Performance Verification, Project Management, Network Implementation and Integration, Commissioning, Technical Support, Emergency Service, training, as well as Swap Repair Service and Software Maintenance.

The Nokia GSM base station solution is uniquely suited to manage the increasing high capacity required in a rapidly growing network, because of its flexibility and scalability.
