I certainly wouldn't argue too strenuously that the S&P & Dow are in a bear market right now..I certainly wouldn't say they are in a bull market either. Somewhere inbetween probably. If you think of red/yellow/green light instead of bull vs bear..I would say the Russell & Nasdaq are clearly red..with S&P/Dow flashing yellow. We should know more by this time next week if those will slip into red also.

Question for you..if you were to go back in time and run those same charts as of Dec 31st 1999..would you have been able to foretell the nasty bear market we had (2000-2004)?? Historical charts are helpful..but in my humble opinion you have to take other factors into consideration also...like the Fed moving from Q/E to Q/T..which has always been detrimental to risk asset returns.
