llmarinen, 1.30 will be a lot harder to reach. Soon the squeezeoff of French and German imports will work to slow their segments of the pie and make them feel even worse. A good thing that will happen is that they will see how the smaller players with more flexible work rules are able to create jobs, while the large countries cannot. Yet, the unions are workomg towards uniform(=stifling) work rules all over Europe.

Japanese deflation, as their distribution system eliminates half it's tiers, will not happen here. The low cost of computers and integration into the USA system will pull the USA out of this recession very rapidly. Low oil will also help.
