Nuance Ships Voice-driven CRM and E-commerce Application Enablers

Reusable Software Components Quickly Extend the Reach of
Online Ordering and Customer Support Applications to Any Telephone

Nuance (Nasdaq:NUAN), the leader in voice interface software, today announced the availability of the Nuance Customer Support Suite(TM) and the newest release of the Nuance Order Management Suite(TM). These two suites offer fast, easy and cost-effective software components to voice-enable customer relationship management (CRM) and e-commerce applications.

According to International Data Corporation (IDC), sales of CRM software will soar from $1.9 billion in 1998 to $11 billion in 2003. Nuance's Customer Support Suite and Order Management Suite will help provide a voice interface to many of these CRM applications, allowing customers to access them from any phone, anywhere.

Using the Customer Support Suite, corporations of all sizes can reduce the cost of customer service, leverage existing investments in CRM/e-CRM applications and extend customer self-service to any telephone. The Customer Support Suite voice-enables service requests, service request tracking, frequently asked questions and service bulletins.

The new release of the Nuance Order Management Suite brings e-commerce to the telephone with new shopping cart and checkout functionality. The Suite can handle the entire ordering process, enabling order entry, order review and access to product information through voice commands.

The suites are composed of SpeechObjects(TM), reusable, standards-based software components which embody the best practices in voice interface design and speech application development. Nuance partners can easily configure, and build upon these suites to meet specific customer needs. The software architecture includes an XML interface layer, which enables easy integration to existing e-commerce and enterprise systems such as BroadVision, Oracle, Siebel, Remedy and others. The suites use Nuance's speech recognition and voice authentication software, and will soon be able to take advantage of Nuance Vocalizer text-to-speech software, which will be available in Q1 2001.
