they'll inevitably slow down the rate of innovation and kill this market.
To me in certain way Intel approach is almost like Microsoft bundling different applications - of course within PC's we have a choice - even among boxmakers we need differentiators

To me three areas Intel is struggling:
1.) architecture
2.) platform strategy - it might be difficult to repeat the Centrino success;
a disadvantage with Centrino is that 802 improved "bandwidth" and range over time. When I upgraded my notebook to wireless I had the choice between an older and newer version; I decided for newer version which was more expensive but it offered improved "bandwidth/speed" and range. In case I would have bought Centrino couple years ago how would I upgrade the wireless function? Probably not via Intel component; I would have to choose another supplier (like Linksys or Belkin) but that would defeat the "integrated Centrino solution" (perhaps I'm wrong on this one ?)
3.) Missing out completely on NAND boom sticking too long with NOR
