Clinton hires former Fannie Mae lobbyist to transition team

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday named a former top lobbyist for bailed-out mortgage company Fannie Mae to co-chair her presidential transition team.

But his time at Fannie Mae is absent from the Clinton campaign’s official bio of the former lobbyist.He served as national security adviser in the Obama White House.

Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), who will chair the project.
Other co-chairs include longtime Clinton loyalists Maggie Williams and Neera Tanden, as well as former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
“While our campaign remains focused on the task at hand of winning in November, Hillary Clinton wants to be able to get to work right away as president-elect on building an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” said John Podesta, the Clinton campaign chairman and the transition team president.
“These individuals, who bring a deep level of experience in the work of presidential transitions, will help us build a team that is ready to govern after the general election.”
Transition teams help campaigns prepare for governing after the election — and prepare the transition from one administration to the next.
