Sounds like a gift to the broker and market maker. Why can't you borrow the shares? Maybe you need a
different broker.

Not only that, eSchwab web trading sucks with a capital "S". I got my Brown & Co. application in the mail. I also called them to find out about the availability of shares to borrow. They said that they have had some AOL shares on and off for the past few weeks, whereas Schwab has had none. In the past, I liked Schwab because they had more low dollar, crappy, stocks to borrow than others. Right now, I am disputing Schwab's failure to execute a fill or kill order I placed on an option. If they fail to make recompense, I'll move the whole account. If they make good I will only do a partial transfer.
