Thanks for your goodwishes. I hope your 2003 approximates what you hope for it, and that the surprises are for tthe good.

I am very happy that the chances of civilsation being ended by an all-out nuclear exchange is drastically reduced since the Berlin Wall came down. That's old news, but the best for a long time. Against that, the loss of a city or two is nothing.

You lknow that I think the mossies are rubbing at least two of their feet together, looking forward to a hot humid world courtesy of the greenhouse gasses. Some of the more perceptive ones amongst them however are probably worried that those same gasses might instead precipitate another ice-age.

Must go to catch a bus - an unlikely thing in California, but it's surprisingly convenient. Perhaps I'll see you in 2003.
