SusanG: I agree with Dr. Ed's comment, after noting that interest rates have come down 250 basis points, that they "haven't done much to revive economic growth." Lower rates don't revive economic growth. But lower rates accompanied by capital liquidity...over time, tend to turn things around. It's a process and it takes time; time for inventories to be worked off, time for confidence/psychology to get better, time for many of the excesses of the prior boom/expansion to wring themselves out; time for businesses to begin rehiring and re-spending....and it can't be rushed.
