Another data point that has been put forth recently is a strong likelihood that many of the countries whose main source of revenue is from oil are now pulling investments out of their sovereign wealth funds. Some of the equity selling lately is likely being done by Saudi Arabia and countries in similar situations. Dumping oil on the markets and also selling stocks.

I've seen a few rumors about hedge fund blow ups over tanking biotech companies and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a potential link to the SWFs.
