Possibly, but I doubt it.

I think that the reason these phones don't have completely tested software supporting 1xRTT data is that PCS and Verizon et al are not yet at the stage where they can adequately complete IOT on the packet data services they will offer to the degree they would like to or plan to, and both carriers don't have adequately trained staff yet to support the black art of phone as modem connectivity. In addition I suspect that they really don't want individuals doing large file transfers on MOU.
