Lizzie, RE: "What do you mean?"

He's an outsider that brought a media compensation policy to what was previously a hightech company.

RE: "Yahoo with Terry Semel has cut back on options dramatically."

The word there is, everyone but his own. This is actually his biggest issue. And he did this while he froze wages. Didn't take too long for his workforce to figure this puzzle out. You can hear a lot of grumbling coming out of Yahoo, for this reason alone. Of course, this will end up hurting their shareholders.

(Meanwhile, hightech companies were issuing more options to offset wage freezes.)

RE: "I can't think of *any reason* yahoo shouldn't be running like a finely tuned machine right now."

Writing was on the wall. Just a matter of time before such poor policies show up in performance, as you noted.

He comes across as a nice guy, but out of touch with inside the hightech world.

But they certainly do have an outstanding news section because the selection is so extensive and not limited to what an editor might want you to read, but pretty much has everything. So, for reasons of maintaining a wide selection of articles in the industry, I hope they make it. I like Yahoo a lot because it's not a Joe Six Pack type of portal. It's not a "dumb the content up" portal for consumers. It has some class as well as highly intelligent articles. The finance section is also extremely useful. Don't know what I would do without it. ( I never understood why Microsoft didn't come out with something like this that's high end. )

Amy J
