HI LD: yep you can keep it, BUT be sure it's in it's own directory,
not in \WINDOWS\SYSTEM...and be sure you are not pathed to the
AOL directory frist..that way it will use it's own..however
keep in mind NETSCAPE 32 bit will not work with it, nor will any
32 bit software that is using the tcp/ip via that AOL winsock.dll
so if you have a Netcape or any browser that runs with it you have
to have the 16 bit version..here again unless you want redundant
32 bit software, and 16 bit software..you may go to your regular
ISP OK..and hook up via the 32 bit winsock...but gain nothing
if your going to run 16 bit software..it's a bottle neck..and
a pain to get around even for the experanced user..while the
nubie..just don't realize how he has sacraficed the preformance
of his PC..why buy a pentium if your going to run on AOL...
I can put win 3.1, on a 386 with a fast uart chip..and a good
vidio card..and actually out run the pentium useing win95
( if it has to log onto AOL) and thats a fact..my wife has my old
386 that does it, she can call my second account at the collage,
do an auto log on, grab the mail..and log off before win95 can
even find itself and boot up, on top of that she has an old
14.4 modem, but she can't get to all my urls and download
stocks the way I do. <VBG>
Btw here is a link to some of my favorte urls
