There are plenty of antidepressant agents of mixed serotonin/norepinephrine inhibitory profile. In fact, these existed before the discovery of pure seroton inhibitors such as Prozac. Either American Home Products over-stated its case, or the reporter didn't know what he/she was talking about. Ibexx
