Robert: Interesting indeed! I believe that within 1 year the scope of telecom will be redrawn by mergers of the big players until perhaps 3 monsters are left. How can we gain from this? SBC will be one of the players I'm sure but as we saw with the PacTel deal, Pac went up, SBC went down. So betting that SBC will be one of those players might not make the $$$ even if this quess is correct. GTE is certainly in play..they are so poorly managed that someone can find gold in their assets. Oh, word at SBC is that in the Spring the "efficiencys" from the merger (i.e downsizing) will begin. The market should love that. KG
