OK, an anomaly - by definition - is something not yet explained. So different interpretations of cause would be understandable - but I'd think they'll all say much the same about what is there, even so. I doubt you'll get some saying "well, it's defending itself" and others saying "well, it's trying to hit back"...
Describe the anomaly. Show it. Let them all view it, test their hypotheses on it, and test each other's also. Write up the conclusions. Test them against other such anomalies, and retest as more findings are made. The trans-Atlantic rift was once an 'anomaly'... now it's explained, predicted, the principles are found to apply elsewhere, and predicted evidence (e.g., magnetic reversal patterns, fossil evidence, rock formations etc) fit the theory. Gravitic lensing was an astonishing prediction by Einstein. Now it's a recognised method of detecting interstellar dark matter - predicted, described, tested and demonstrated. This is how science works.
So, prove 'faith'. Demonstrate how someone with sufficient faith can die and live again. Cure a few lepers by telling them to 'be well'. Or, hey, I don't ask for much - just walk on water (not the Dead Sea, either). Actually, if you can turn water into even a reasonable wine, that'll do. And reproduce these results, too. |
