I don't think a new high is likely anytime soon. But maybe I'll change my view after another day or three like this! I don't think that the stock is being manipulated so much as it is being driven by the usual factors of greed and fear. Shorts loaded up on the stock at the perfectly wrong time! Meanwhile a lot of those who were likely to get shaken out because of the plunge in the market, sector and the stock were out of the way - leaving the those still holding it more willing to hold on despite the negatives of growing losses, etc. The "story" of the internet darlings is just too compelling for many people to resist. With every share available held short, renewed buying pressure caused by the focus of the brokerage industry on the inets (something which is almost INEVITABLE because they are sponsoring the roll out of eBay) and renewed enthusiasm of a relief rally creates a powder keg with a lit fuse. Once again short sellers shoot themselves in the foot exactly BECAUSE the stock is so deserving of being shorted! Schizophrenic investing is alive and well again!
