One would hope that every generation had its Robert Zimmerman, eh. Don't think they all do, though. I was really There when the times they were a-changin' in the 60s, so of course I don't remember much -g-. Pretty oblivious at the time to the great majority of the words to the tunes, but Dylan from the start shook me right to the roots - richer, more flexible, more portable, more concise imagery I can't imagine. You can make anything out of Dylan you want by picking the right song and interpreting it the way you want, imho - for me 'My Back Pages' is hope for the species, an affirmation of the incredible adaptability of the human mind - we can screw up a lot while proud 'neath heated brow, but we can get over it, change, and look back and say 'But I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now'. Of course, we must be careful to never trust anybody over sixty -g- ..... A lot of people think he's depressing, but imho either they're not listening or they're just determined to be old.

He kind of lost me on the Christian stuff, but then he got over that later, I hear. Doesn't matter that much, if he got himself elected Pope I'd still buy him a beer if he stopped by ...... cheers, all ....... marcos
