N Dixon on 10 June 2016 said in Post #17996 said, slightly paraphrased, that she spoke the previous night to a friend who went to the Annual Meeting.... and he said that the takeaway was that we still are looking at late in the year before the largest numbers of V222s will be sold. I think the figure was 120K vehicles are expected to be sold later on this year. He said that they expect the seeds they've sown to show up later this year. They (RFI) even expressed the wish that the annual meeting would be held at that time as there will be so much to talk about that is positive. They also said that other OEMs (more than one) have sped up their adoption process by using Mercedes test data instead of doing their own testing.

I was curious about this description of the Annual Meeting so I finally called Investor Relations at RFI a month later (last Sunday) with some questions that Seth Van Voorhees was kind enough to answer. One question I asked was "if any of the Other OEMs (more than one) that have sped up their adoption process by using Mercedes test data would be a mid-model year adoption of SPD?” After replying that despite knowing the models he knew nothing about model year status; completely unprompted he stated plainly that at the Ann. Mtg. they had tried to be careful to emphasize that the timing for the new OEMs was on the order of 6 months to 2 years (i.e. extending out to the summer of summer of 2018, possibly). For further details see my post #18077.

This relates back to another post of mine (#17955) of 25 May 2016. This was a quote from Joe H. in reply to the very first caller's 2nd question in the Q&A Session: "Secondly can you give us any update or insight as to the other automotive manufacturers?" {Very slight paraphrasing.}

Joe's answer: “… So, I think, if we have to project out a couple of years, of course, we’re going to see a number of different OEMs have SPD in the roofs. But I think you’ll see some interesting other applications as well."

That clearly implies (Or am I just inferring?) that we have just a little over a year before we should have had several other OEMs with announcements of SPD in their roofs plus other applications. If we allow the other OEMs to have watched the S550 long enough to judge Mercedes' actual performance in sales with SPD in the world's best selling luxury car after it is actually sold with SPD and launch their programs? I just don't know for any degree of certainty, but last year's Q2 CC quote seems to sort of fit that scenario, doesn't it?
