The internet killed the mall.

Well, not really. The effects, at least the ones I can see, vary. The mall I'm talking about is an upper middle class mall which was never fully used. And even then the restaurants in it appear to be doing quite well (which supports your point). A much larger mall further down the road in Paramus, NJ, the Westfield Mall, otherwise known as the Garden State Mall, looks to be doing reasonably well with very, very few store closings.

I haven't seen any serious data on this question yet.
