Way off topic Your Lincoln and wife story reminded me of one I read a few years back about a metalurgist called to a meeting with the defense department during the war. It seemed the armour his company was supplying wasn't doing a very good job of stopping the latest shells. While awaiting his turn, he noticed the man coming out had a big smile. Asking him what was the source of his joy, the man said the latest shells his ammunition company produced could now penetrate the best armour. PW.
