Regarding slowness in Japan, this from CNNfn.com:

On a separate note, the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) nine-member Policy Board expects the economy to grow in a range of 0.3 to 0.8 percent this fiscal year, according to half-yearly forecasts issued by the central bank on Thursday.

The range, which excludes the highest and lowest forecasts, was more pessimistic than the government's growth target of 1.7 percent for the fiscal year that started on April 1.
