30-Day Progressive Rock Song Challenge continued... 25/30

Day 25: A song you like by an artist no longer living

During the '70s, each member of Yes recorded solo albums. Of all those albums, my favorite is Chris Squire’s Fish Out of Water. Chris was a phenomenal bass player and an amazing songwriter, and my favorite track from the album is "Lucky Seven." That’s my choice for today.

I couldn’t find a video of Chris playing it live, so here’s the studio version. "Lucky Seven" is a fantastic jazz-infused track with a complex time signature and a funky bass line. I love how Patrick Moraz’s organ and Mel Collins’ saxophone intertwine throughout the song, alongside Chris’ heavy bass line. Add in Bill Bruford’s precise drumming, and you’ve got a truly special prog track.

If you’d like to join the challenge, it's not too late. Feel free to post your song choices. This thread is all about discovering new music!

Thanks to Cathy at Micqu.org for sharing this and allowing me to use it here. You can check out the original challenge at: Micqu.org
