They did marry but it was a disaster. She was put in a very difficult position. The marriage was more a political arrangement with the Duke of Cleves, who wouldn't accept his sister back, so she had to live out her life in England. She agreed to an annulment and testified that the marriage had not been consummated. Henry gave her Anne Boleyn's old castle, where she lived out her life with a select few ladies in waiting from Germany.
