Bill,

I agree with most of what you said.. you did however neglect to mention Cyrix, which after the NSM merger goes through will be just as powerful.. this is the worst position Intel has been in years..

Things that have gone wrong for Intel in the last 3 months:
(in order of importance)

1: IBM develops a manufacturing that Intel will not have access to for at least 2 years (btw, the new IBM process is .16u).

2: The best competition in their history from AMD and Cyrix.

3: To make #2 worse, Cyrix is now owned by someone with enough $$ to start doing some damage.

4: Joe Public is starting to buy based on price instead of performace. Just look at the recent decline in Intel's high-end sales.

5: Anti-trust investigation that is (I will guarantee it) turning over more stones than just the C&T buyout.

6: An inflated stock price, that will on the slightest hint of bad news come crashing down (more so than the news would warrant).

7: BUGS BUGS BUGS.. no wait that has been the last 2 years.. silly me.

Steve
