ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. and LAS VEGAS, MARCH 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) announced today that The Borgata resort and casino, its joint venture with Mirage Resorts, Incorporated, received final approvals for its site plan application and CAFRA (Coastal Area Facility Review Act) Permit. The City of Atlantic City Planning Board granted preliminary and final site plan approval for The Borgata earlier today, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Land Use Regulation Program, which requires that all major projects located in the Coastal Area secure a CAFRA permit, issued its permit for The Borgata on March 10. The Planning Board also granted preliminary and final site approval for onsite roadways and related infrastructure improvements providing access and site circulation for The Borgata. The CAFRA permit includes approvals for 1,766 hotel rooms (first phase: 1,207 rooms), a health spa, 133,000 square feet of casino space, 63,000 square feet of convention and meeting space, and 5,143 parking spaces with a bus terminal. Commenting on the approvals, William S. Boyd, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, said, "These are significant regulatory steps in moving the exciting Borgata project forward.
