According to today's Globe the trouble is in the area of the Capital where ther are Rwandan mercenaries and in the east, especially around Goma. << AUGUST 4, 1998 Tenke Mining Progress Report VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Tenke Mining Corp. (the "Company") today commented on the various reports of unrest in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo ("DRC"), Kinshasa and in the east of the country. These reports are being carried on international news services. The Company is pleased to report that it is quiet in Katanga Province where the Tenke Fungurume deposits are located being approximately 1,000 miles from the capital. The Tenke Fungurume copper/cobalt concessions are estimated to contain over 500 million tonnes of global resources grading 3.5 percent copper and 0.27 percent cobalt and significant further exploration potential exists.
