The main point is not whether Chomsky said they where precise but rather that Chomsky said that the attacks probably lead to tens of thousands of deaths, when apparently they only directly led to one death, and there is no evidence of any large scale indirect deaths resulting from the attacks. Chomsky might have had sources but you can always find sources for wild claims of devastation caused by any American military action. And one of Chomsky supposed sources, Human Rights Watch, never claimed what Chomsky said they claimed. So Chomsky picks a couple of dishonest or at least wildly off the wall sources, and then makes up the "fact" that Human Rights Watch was also a source. This is more legitimately called incredibly dishonest then the article that Tench linked to.
