Truth be known, when the site is up and running, and you PRELOAD the trading screen with data, Etrade is usable for trading. Not high speed scalping, but short position trades. I find the executions quite fast (a few seconds).

The problem is not the speed of the site, but the frequent outages, which can be costly.
