I've been thinking for a long time about preparing myself for a long car trip to the national forests, possibly in a camper or pulling a trailer.
Options might be, or were, a new or used Macbook with a phone for a modem. Or my smaller iMac and just an iPhone.
Gotta say after reading this:

I think I'll probably spring for a chromebook, just to test it out. Even if I don't go that way. They are so cheap sheech, pocket change and I can deduct it so its only 1/2 the price.
I have a smaller iMac that would be OK in the trailer for working with programs, and I don't want to go through the hassle and considerable expense of "upgrading" all my apps for what I see are inferior OSs if I bought a newer mac laptop.
I'll still need some kind of phone... maybe just a dumb phone and a modem for the chromebook. Really all I need online are googlemaps and the internet. Finding cheap gas, markets etc.
After all is considered, the hassle... TIME... and expense of buying new apps, upgrading the OS, buying expensive Apple products... is substantial...
If I do get a smartphone I tend to lean towards iPhones... but there again, I feel like Apple is trying to force me to upgrade my computer. |
