Hi Appro and ALL: Here's a tip for wood be travelers of SI.

Recently I have been getting a little frustrated by Netcom not providing faster servers in my area, so I started thinking about using another ISP. Well, as I'm sure many of you know, one big fear is to lose contact with all your cyberfriends. Now you could risk it and try to email everyone, but what about that person who doesn't necessarily use the net all that often? Anyway, it's a tough situation. But I think I've found a reasonable long term answer.

These are free email sites which work without an ISP. The Geocities site is my favorite because you can choose really great email addresses and it will automatically send it to whatever your ISP is. Shifting it as often as you need to.

The rocketmail site is also pretty great. Because it's actually a page given to you on the net, that will never change.

So my solution. Slowly tell all my friends about my new email addresses until I feel confident they have them, then if Netcom doesn't speed up it's servers shift ISP's.

Oh! here's one of my new addresses. cummings@writeme.com

Pretty cool huh?
