Protest marches didn't prolong the war. Do you think anyone in the military cared enough about protesters to throw down their weapons? I never knew anyone who did.

Except of course Brother LaMay, who would was itching to turn several thousand square miles into radioactive toast, with 10 million dead, instead of 2 million under Kissinger's direction. Of course he's the same guy who wanted to pre-emptively nuke Moscow in 1960, just to dust off that part of the world. Never mind the small unpleasantness 30 million dead in USSR, and some millions in the US... it would have been as in Albright's phrase "worth it".
