Apr 1, 2003 (financialwire.net via COMTEX) -- (FinancialWire) Boots and Coots International Well Control, Inc. (AMEX: BOOTS) has paid creditor Checkpoint Business, a Panama group that had provided the company with short term working capital, and was urging the company to consider Chapter 11 when it looked as if it might not be able to make agreed payments.

Then enter the war in Iraq, a smattering of oil well fires, and a subcontract form Halliburton (NYSE: HAL), and Boots and Coots was able to pay off Checkpoint and at the same time reject the proposal for a Chapter 11 filing.
