Walt,

"Wonder if the fix would really collect his prize."

Well, Walt, we don't know if the winner will claim his prize in time. There has to be a deadline on claiming the prize, and Rule 423(b)(1) of the contest states that if the winning number is less than $3 per share that the putative winner must claim said prize by 12:05 a.m. EDT on June 1, 1997, or the prize will accrue to the winner of the following contest.
So, perhaps we'll have a carryover.

On other fronts, National Geographic is rumored to be sending a camera crew to try to capture Diamond Willie, the Snap Like Monster, on film. A drill crew member told reporters that he thought he was about to enter more kimberlite 300 meters from the first drill hole on anomoly 186, but was so startled when he saw Diamond Willie floating on his back and smoking a foot long Havana cigar, that he accidentally used up the last of last of the drill feet allocated to him, going horizontally instead of vertically as he watched Willie blow smoke rings. "Too bad," he said, "That's one big pipe I found. Guess we'll have to wait till summer now to prove it up."
