"We have wasted a lot of money investigating Intel alternatives over the last 10 years," he said at a news conference. "We are staying with Intel." Advanced Micro Deivces Inc. and Cyrix Corp . recently began shipping chips that match the performance and undercut the prices of Intel's top processors. The arrival of the rivals was one factor analysts suspected in Intel's recent warning about weak demand in Europe. In Europe, the PC unit of Fujitsu and Germany's Vobis Microcomputer AG have begun using the AMD K6 chip along with Pentium chips. IBM Corp., which manufactures chips for Cyrix, uses Cyrix chips in some PCs -- Neal Boudette, Bonn Newsroom, +49-228 26097150
