Re Shotgun Modem

Hi bede,

Here is the link that describes shotgun.

diamondmm.com

Basically, the two telco data links are bridged together at your single ISP to make a double speed circuit, so MB Trading only sees one link.

I had poor experiences with shotgun and returned the modems. I believe it was because I lived too far in the country and there was too much delay in my circuits (latency) to bridge the circuits properly. Sometimes they would bridge, but most of the time they wouldn't. I eventually returned the dual modem after much frustration.

Many others have had success.

Windows 98 has multilink built in, so 'Shotgun' is not necessarily required. The advantage of the Shotgun dual modem is that the second line can drop automatically and 'on-the-fly' when a call comes on on the second line, which still leaves you with a telephone without buying a third line.

John
