Thanks for the ebay info. It illustrates the beauty of the net. First we had companies try to sell stuff on the net for a gross margin, then competition set in with companies selling at cost (i.e. no gross margin), JUST TO GET ADVERTISING REVENUE. Now with ebay charging a nominal amount per auction, we have Yahoo undercutting them and charging nothing. Presumably to get the page views and advertising. We are seeing it play out in front of our eyes. Companies will achieve reasonable returns on their invested capital on the internet, not extraordinary returns. Nowhere sufficient to support multi-multi billion market caps. Next stop - Portals pay you for your page views. Lycos, are you listening? Guru.
