A big concern for me is: what happens if the data source vanishes/changes? With the spreadsheets filled manually, I don't care: the cells contain just numbers, I can continue getting data from any source I want. With automatic spreadsheets if data source vanishes or changes, I'd have to update 700 spreadsheets to use a new data source. This does not seem like a fun thing... I have to think how to deal with this problem. :)

In this sense, your approach is better: AAII is unlikely to disappear as a source. And in any case you export numbers, so you can manually change them after getting them in text file (or in spreadsheet) if you want (e.g. if you know that certain number is wrong).

Having formula in a cell that relies on flaky source is not as good as having an actual value...
