Compared to how we spend that much on the military every few months, averting a financial meltdown at that price was a pretty good deal. And if it didn't bring about world peace and bring about sweetness and light, well too flippin' bad, that's why crises are bad things that are hard to fix completely.

For me, people still whinging about TARP is up there with denying climate change. You can slice and dice the various programs and numbers all you like and assume that A should have done B and C and not just B, but the basic reality doesn't change.

We didn't burn down to the ground. It works for me.
