All of the data I'm looking at -- most notably robry's -- indicate ng already surpassed coal for power generation in the US...

On a side note... been traveling through TX, OK, and Kansas for a client for the last week... I've seen about half of the pumps in operation, but none were owned by public companies and am assuming the ones I've seen that are still pumping are old stripper wells -- and the condition and models/designs of the pumps are big clues in that respect, too... uncountable numbers of stacked/racked drilling, completion and production equipment line the highways all through N. TX, OK, and KS (and KS has a fair amount -- or did -- of production just a few years ago)... surprised to see as many wind turbines as I have in N. TX (Amarillo region), W. OK, and especially SW KS...

Just eyeball data, so I wouldn't make too much of it, but just thought I'd pass along what I've seen -- haven't really spent much time on the ground in these areas before as my career has been focused 95% of my career in the patch offshore, not on land... but I am branching out a bit to replace the billable hrs. I've lost from my two big offshore OSX clients.
